Thank you to Waimate Rotary for the generous donation of dictionaries for our Year Fours this year.
While Taye was away, he wrote this amazing description of what he saw.

On Sunday, we drove up to Aoraki Mt Cook, to walk the Hooker Valley.
We had to drive around Lake Pukaki and past snow covered mountains to get there. Lake Pukaki looked fresh, calm and an ugly bluey green colour,  with ducks swimming on it.
Upon arriving at the Hooker Valley carpark, we all got ready and prepared to go on our big walk.
After a bit of a walk we finally got to the first of three swing bridges. The swing bridges were strong and wobbly, also very freaky and scary.
On one side of us were grey shingle, rocky mountains with skinny, long waterfalls made from snow on top of them On our other side were sparkly snow covered mountains. Right in front of us was the very huge snow covered Aoraki Mt Cook. By Aoraki Mt Cook was Hooker Valley Glacier and lake.
The Glacier is a big wall of dirty ice that goes right under the shingle up to Aoraki Mt Cook. Bythe glacier was a brown, dirty looking lake with icebergs and ice washing up on the shore. One of the icebergs looked like a party ship with a slide at the back.
